Minecraft PE 1.16.0

The Nether Update is on everybody’s lips since October last year. The waiting period was so long that we thougt it will never be released, but thankfully Minecraft PE 1.16.0 is already here and is ready to be explored by all the Minecraft PE fans.

Grab some tea and cookies (or why not, some champagne since this is a good reason to celebrate) and let’s see what this version has done to the good old Nether.

What`s new in Minecraft Bedrock 1.16.0

Starting with this awesome game version, the nether will never be the same. Now it is creepier but at the same time more fascinating thanks to the multitude of newly-introduced biomes, vegetation, blocks and a couple of cool new mobs.

Biomes

The updated Nether has three new biomes for you to explore:

  • The Soulsand Valley, which is a place haunted by wither skeletons. This valley’s ground is covered with soul sand and soil. Besides this, you will see numerous basalt pillars connecting the soil and the ceiling. To make the environment even more terrifying, a strange glow and flying ashes are flowing in the air.
  • The Crimson Forest is not as creepy-looking as the valley described above, but is no less dangerous because it is haunted by two newly introduced mobs, both of them being very aggressive towards the player. In addition to the mobs, here you discover that the ground is covered with nylium and giant fungi grow from all around the place. The caves are “decorated” with weeping vines and the air seems heavy because of the spores swirling in it.
  • The Warped Forest is the safest place in the Nether, but this does not mean that it doesn’t look scary. The creepy vegetation and blocks, along with the spores swirling in the air and dark fog make the environment here extremely sinister.

Mobs

We have already mentioned that this version brings two brand-new mobs. These are:

  • Piglins – pig-like devils living and attacking in large groups. Even if they look rather cute, these creatures are behaving very aggressively towards the players, their neighbors the Hoglins and the Wither Skeletons. If the players and the skeletons are attacked by the piglins with no reason, just for being there, the hoglins are hunted by them only in case they are hungry, but you don’t have to pity the hoglins because they are tough mobs too and do their best to stand for themselves. But let’s get back to the piglins. Their weakness is their love to the gold. They might get really suspicious in case they see a player digging for gold or checking chests and they might attack immediately, so you would better avoid doing this in front of them. But you can use their love for gold in your advantage by trading gold ingots. In return they will offer you different goods. When piglins are destroyed (this can be done using soul fire or by creeping them) they transform into Zombie Piglins which are even more dangerous than the custom piglins.

  • Hoglins are also pig-like mobs, but looking different from the piglins (see pictures of both mobs above and below). They are not as hostile as the first ones, but still attack players on sight. If you are brave enough, you can try to keep them off using fungi that grows in the Warped Forest biome and you can try to breed them with fungi that grow in the Crimson Forest. Upon death, hoglins drop pork chops.

Blocks

  • Different kinds of fungi growing in both of the newly-introduced forests
  • Different kinds of nylium growing in both of the newly-introduced forests
  • Different kinds of fungi growing in both of the newly-introduced forests
  • Different kinds of stems found in both of the newly-introduced forests
  • Different kinds of roots growing in both of the newly-introduced forests
  • Basalt pillars
  • Weeping vines mostly found in Crimson caves
  • Nether sprouts
  • Warped Wart
  • Soul Soil which is a very useful material for crafting lanterns
  • Target Blocks (not fully functional yet)
  • Netherite – an extremely durable material used for crafting tools, weapons and other helpful stuff.

This is all we had to tell you about the new Nether, but this is not everything Minecraft Bedrock 1.16.0

brought to us:

Fixes and changes

Even if the developers did really great work at introducing all the above-described Nether features, they did not ignore the already existing crashes, bugs and other minor issues that had to be fixed or MCPE features requiring to be slightly modified. The changes and fixes were done in relation to the next mobs:

  • Pufferfish
  • Ender Dragon
  • Ghasts
  • Drowned
  • Fish
  • Villagers
  • Zombie Villagers
  • Tamed Horses
  • Sheep
  • Endermen
  • Squids
  • Polar Bears
  • Iron Golems

The changes mostly affected the above-listed mobs’ behavior, spawning and despawning processes, trading system and more.

The developers also removed some detected crashes and worked on fixing issues affecting the graphics, user interface, controls, sounds, and the gameplay generally.

Now when you know the main features of this great version, you can download it and start exploring, but we still recommend you take a few minutes to watch the video below in order to find out even more information (perhaps interesting you) on it.
